Alps Vacation 2009
Franziska and I just got back from our two week vacation in the alps. We had a nice time. I decided to take only film cameras with me on vacation! I brought enough film so that I could take one roll of 12 pictures (120 format) per day. Here are three pictures from two of the color rolls, taken with a cheap plastic camera called a Holga.
For this part of the trip Franziska and I did a 4 day backpack trip around the mountain range called Dent du Midi, which is in the French speaking part of Switzerland. It’s been more than 4 years since I’ve been backpacking, and I have never done it in bigger mountains before, so we were a little nervous about how it would work out. But it was great! And here is some more of what we saw….
Franziska & Rob with my Yashica
About 6 months ago I started buying film cameras. My first was a Yashica MAT 124, and this picture of us was from one of the first few rolls with the camera. Of course I also bought what I needed to develop the film. More recently I bought an enlarger and the few other goodies you need to make prints at home. This is a scan of the print I made last night.
In the moment I’m really enjoying using film & old cameras. I feel so much more involved in the process. It feels like I am actually creating something. It feels real and personal. How long will it last?
